Barcelona, Spain - The ATHENA project holds the second transnational meeting at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, hosted by TransMedia Catalonia research group . Partners focused on the integration of accessibility and universal design in higher education curricula by progressing on the transnational report and planning the next activities consisting of focus groups and co-designing, which will lead to a set of recommendations addressed to relevant stakeholders.
The ATHENA project aims to support the Higher Education sector in becoming more interconnected, innovative, and inclusive. The project is funded by Erasmus + and will run for two and a half years. With this meeting, we marked the beginning of a multi-disciplinary effort to create solutions that will provide significant societal benefits.
This one-and-a-half-day meeting enabled progress and fruitful discussions among partners (the European Disability Forum, the coordinator of the project, Johannes Kepler University Linz (Austria), Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), European University Cyprus (Cyprus), Masaryk University (Czechia) and EURASHE (Belgium). We focused on the incorporation of feedback provided by experts in the field of HE and accessibility to the transnational report on Mainstream Curricula Analysis. Likewise, the partners started planning the next activities in the project that will lead to recommendations on the integration of accessibility and universal design in higher education curricula, as well as how to better reach the relevant individuals, institutions, and bodies involved in curriculum design and enablers of mainstreaming accessibility in the HE curricula.
